It is one of the more difficult branches of modding normally a modder will specialise in modelling and texturing and not do it as well as coding or scripting.Ĭoding is the bulk of modding it allows modders to change different troops, items, base scenes, and other features of the game. Modelling and rigging allows modders to add new items, new mounts, or even whole new races to the game. It can modfiy terrain, settlements, and elevations, amongst other things. Map Editing uses Thorgrim's Map Editor to work with and modify the map files. Scene Editing uses the in-game edit mode to moify the 3d scenes te player and NPCs walk around in. Some people simply post an idea and try and get modders for it, but these usually fail. Normally mod leaders need to get a release of the mod out before getting a team, and are among the most skilled and experienced members of the community.
Mod leaders always have to know a lot of the required skills for thier mod. Mods cover a vast range of topics and ideas, and in many cases require several people bringing together a variety of skills for the mod's completion.
Teams of modders work together on projects or some simply work alone. Mods for M&B are released freely in almost all cases, with many mods sharing their source code and files with the modding community. Mount and Blade is a game very specifically designed to allow modding, and modding provides a major part of the fun and replay value of the game.
